Biking in Parc René Levesque

Each Wednesday a group of us go out for a morning bike ride, broken up in the middle with a coffee break.  Not too onerous, and very pleasant to ride and to have a chat. 

Today we went on the bike path through Lachine to the parc René Levesque which is a little arm that juts out into the St Lawrence river.  It has a bike path as well as a pedestrian path with lots of green space and some large art works by Quebec artists.

This last shot is of two of our group riding along the Lachine bike path which follows the river all the way.  As you can see, the scenery is lovely.  

A Bike Ride

Last Wednesday our bicycling group did the trail along the Soulange Canal.  It's a lovely track, well paved and mostly surrounded by foliage (ergo shade!).  It had a short life span of about 60 years which ended almost 60 years ago so some of the infrastructure is falling apart, making for some interesting design. 

Not the best light for this interesting swamp.  But rather spooky in real life.

And here we all are ! 

Update

My cascade piece is finally finished and will hang at our next guild meeting with the other 23 pieces.  It's going to be fascinating to see the creativity and colour display.  I've seen a few already and they are so good!!  So if you are in the Beaconsfield area on May 7th, come by and take a look in the morning.

This is me getting ready for our bike and barge tour in Southern France.  As you can see the snow is not yet gone!  And in fact it is snowing as I write.  I'm quite proud of my accomplishments so far - a 27 Km loop around the end of the west island.  Twice!  However, it's a far cry from the 65 per day that I will be expected to do.  Wish me luck!  

May travels

In preparation for an upcoming biking trip I am valiantly trying to put in time to get ready. This is not going to be a Tour de France - merely 25 -50 Km a day. This past weekend I did 22 and 25 kms so I think I'll manage! We ride on a converted railway bed and pass several ponds - this is one of them, full of yellow water lilies. We also managed to see red winged blackbirds, and Eastern kingbirds. And of course the ubiquitous Canada geese.Earlier in the month we stayed overnight in Kingston on our way to Toronto. A walk through the park gave me a vantage of red tulips with an old house in the back - where I spent a year in an apartment while I was at Queen's U. The bay kitchen window was lovely.
This lilac has travelled! It came from a bush that was given to a friend by my husband's grandmother. It's been transplanted a few times, and this year had some lovely blooms, so I guess it's now happy in this location.
